Below (in birth order) they are - Back row L-R: Mallory (19), Hillary (18), Maggie (16) and Hamp (16)
Front row L-R: Mira (7), twins Hallie & Race (6), Megan (5)
Our firstborn daughter, Lori. Could you find a more appropriate t-shirt for a MATH teacher?
Son-in-law, Dennis, retired this summer after 22 years as an Air Force officer. He likes retirement and is working hard on building his second airplane. This one's a 4 seater. Here he is flanked by Hamp and Lori while he shows off his new mantra.
Mallory and her fiance, Mike. They plan to marry January 16, 2010. Mike graduates from ECU this summer and Mal will graduate next December. It was a joy for us to have Mike spend the holidays with us. In fact, my all-time favorite Christmas memory of this year was eavesdropping on him telling Mira the Bible story of Joseph. She'd watched the animated film, Joseph, King of Dreams and Mike was clarifying it for her biblically. VERY sweet! Mike is a fine young Christian man and he and Mallory seem well suited. He's a very welcome addition to our family.
The one and only, irrepressible Maggie modeling the ruby red Wizard of Oz shoes Santa brought her. The lovely scarf is actually SOCKS! That's our Maggie!

Our son John with his two favorite girls. He is one dedicated DAD! Just wish we got to see him and those darling girls, Mira and Megan more often. What a joy to have them here. This was the first year Lori and her family have been able to overlap with John's visit in three years. They had a ball getting to spend some time with those nieces. 5 year old Megan wants to be a "joke teller" when she grows up (not a comedian you understand - a "joke teller"). She has kept us all in stitches as she plies her trade!
The day after Christmas when Mira and Megan arrived. More presents to open. YAY!
Youngest daughter, Lisa, with her husband, Keith.
Hillary with her boyfriend, Derrick. The headband goes with a little shower wrap she got but we thought it made her look like a "flower child" when she pulled it on. It made me remember once when we put a headband on her - she was about four months old and had no hair - her Uncle Dennis called her "Yoda". ROFL
Our exuberant Hallie. Think she'll ever get too big to jump into Gran's arms?
6 year old Race - our very own Hot Wheels champ!
When Christmas explodes at our house, Roy just says, "Gimme my shirt and let me get out of the way." GRIN!
Me and my sweet baby girl. She is definitely a source of great joy to her momma!
The younger grands making goofy faces for the camera at the family gathering at Mamaw's house on Saturday. I think Race wins. What do you think?
Roy with his sister, Gennett; his mom, Edith; and his brother, James. Mamaw is 87 and still has Christmas at her house for the whole family. Yum - yum! Good country cooking! I counted 36 people in and out of her little 1100 sq ft home last Saturday! Thank goodness the weather was nice enough for the children to play outside!
