E - ENTITLED TO TRUTH

Each day this week we are looking at one of the six statements Beth Moore used in her So Long, Insecurity simulcast to describe a secure woman. The second letter of the acrostic is the letter E. A secure woman is ENTITLED TO TRUTH.

I don't know about you, girlfriends, but being ENTITLED TO TRUTH blesses my wooley socks off! I have operated for so many years of my life believing the lies of the enemy and even the lies of my own deceptive heart that I am ready to grab hold of TRUTH and hang on for dear life.

Yesterday we talked about pride and what a liar and a cheater it is. That's because pride is Satan's specialty and didn't Jesus call him the "father of lies"? Think about it. Pride is the characteristic that describes Satan better than any other. After all, it's the very issue that got him expelled from heaven, isn't it? Pride is what he used to tempt Eve in the Garden of Eden, wasn't it? Why should we be surprised that this is his favorite area of attack in our life too?

Listen, girlfriends, we have an enemy who does NOT play fair. He loves to get us coming or going. If we are able to focus on God and yield ourselves with our prideful natures to Him, Satan's just around the corner waiting to attack. His biggest nightmare is us becoming the secure women God intends us to be. So he watches and pounces when the time is right. He is quick to distort any thought we might have of selfless living by turning it into an extreme.

Listen to this excerpt from C. S. Lewis' book, The Screwtape Letters, in which an older, more experienced demon, Uncle Screwtape, mentors his nephew, Wormwood. In this excerpt Uncle Screwtape is instructing Wormwood regarding a "patient" who has become humble:

"Catch him at the moment when he is really poor in spirit and smuggle into his mind the gratifying reflection, "By jove! I'm being humble," and almost immediately pride - pride at his own humility - will appear. If he awakes to the danger and tries to smother this new form of pride, make him proud of his attempt - and so on, through as many stages as you please. But don't try this too long, for fear you awake his sense of humor and proportion, in which case he will merely laugh at you and go to bed."

ARGH! Does that make you feel like you can't win for losing? Well, that's exactly how Satan wants you to feel. And if you feel like that, my dear sister, you are believing a LIE. You have the Holy Spirit living IN you. You are sealed in Him. The evil one cannot touch you.

The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

He is the Spirit of truth who came to guide you into all truth. (John 14:17, 26) He will enable you to know the truth. And you know what the truth will do, don't you? The truth will set you free!!

Free from insecurity, girls! Free from pride! Woo Hoo!! We are ENTITLED TO TRUTH.

Are you going to let Satan steal something from you that God says you are entitled to??

God's been leading me for the past couple of months in recognizing some of the lies I've believed that have kept me from being the secure woman He wants me to be. I'm learning to replace those lies with His truth and to rehearse that truth over and over and over. He is renewing my mind with the truth I'm entitled to.

I want what I'm entitled to, don't you?

You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32

I never read that verse without remembering Henry Blackaby's teaching in Experiencing God. He said Jesus is truth so you can actually read John 8:32 this way:
You will know Jesus, and Jesus will set you free.

Girlfriends,
If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed! John 8:36
